Lough Muckno Peace Park, Castleblayney
Situated just a five minute walk from The Glencarn Hotel, the park was originally part of the estate of the Blayney family from whom the town of Castleblayney takes its name. Walk the forest trails and enjoy spectacular views of the lake by following the colour coded walks:
  • The Black Island Circuit Walk (1.7km - Red)
  • McBride's Walk (600m - light Blue)
  • Bluebell Wall (340m - purple)
  • The High Road (340m - Green).
 
 
Rossmore Park, Monaghan
Situated just 3.5km from Monaghan Town, The lands which comprise this Park was formerly part of the barony of Rossmore. A castle was constructed in 1827 with various extensions being added over the years. The remains of the castle can still be seen in the park.
Rossmore Forest Park has a car park, picnic sites, forest & lakeside walks, nature trails and viewing points
 
 
Dun a Ri Forest Park, Kingscourt
Situated north of Kingscourt on the R179 to Carrickmacross (30min drive), the park forms part of what was formerly the Cabra Estate. There is a great diversity of wildlife to be found in the woodland and water.
There are four signposted walks:.
  • Nature Trail
  • Village Walk
  • River Walk
  • Access for all Trail
 
 
Slieve Beagh, Knockatallon
Just a 40 minute drive from Castleblayney, enjoy the challenge of walking to Sliabh Beagh’s highest point, close to  the Three County Hollow, where Tyrone, Fermanagh and Monaghan meet or opt for a short family ramble of 4km. Alternatively, link into one of the 36 loop walks throughout the Sliagh Beagh region which are way-marked and vary in length from 4km to 15km.
 
 
Gosford Park, Markethill
just a 40 minute drive from The Glencarn Hotel Castleblayney, this park has 240 hectares of diverse woodland and open parkland including The Arboretum, Deer Enclosure, Heritage Poultry, Rare Animal Breeds Collection and Mill Ponds. Includins short informal walks, the park has four trails:
  • Deer Park Trail - 2km
  • Castle Trail - 2km
  • Beach Wood Trail - 2.5km
  • Boundary Trail - 6.5km
